How does Fransje Sophie creates Conscious Fashion?

I am well aware of the fact that the fashion industry is one of the most polluting and most unfair industries in the world. Since it’s still very difficult to shop guiltfree on so many levels, I decided to start my own label, a slow fashion label. Filled with essentials for your capsule wardrobe. To do good and even better than good.

I find that transparency is key in my efforts. No vague statements or promises that can't be verified. Every decision I make is conscious and considers the entire supply chain. Although as a new designer brand, achieving 100% sustainability is challenging. Nonetheless I ensure all choices contribute to a better planet and working environment.

How is conscious fashion established?

All items are ethically made, right here in the Netherlands. The workers are treated with respect and have good working conditions, with fair pay, normal working hours, clean workspaces, weekends off, and the ability to take time off. This is in contrast to the standard practices in Fast Fashion, which involve pay theft and forced labor.

Fabrics

European sourced

Also, I care about the fabrics used. Of course, factors as color, weight, weaving, and composition are important, but it is also important to pay attention to where the fibers are picked and where the fabric is woven. Is it done under fair conditions? Or is it done by oppressed groups like the Uyghurs? I ask the question, I open up the conversation.

Upcyle

Additionally, I love to repurpose dead stock fabric from high-end designers to create unique, one-of-a-kind pieces. #Upcyling

Conscious Attention to Detail

And not only I prioritize sustainable fabrics, but I also make conscious choices when it comes to every detail. All buttons are from a manufacturer in Lithuania. They specialize in producing sustainable, ecological and ecofriendly buttons that utilize alternative materials to standard polyester, such as Corozo, a 100% natural raw material, or even surplus milk protein. By prioritizing these materials, we aim to create fashion that is both stylish and sustainable.

In addition to our eco-conscious button selection, all our labels are made from recycled materials, as is our packaging.

Improve

I strive to continuously improve and make a positive impact in the fashion industry. Each day, I work towards making a difference for you as a fashion consumer, for the workers in the fashion supply chain, and for myself as a fashion designer. I believe that every small change creates a ripple effect towards a better future.
